Welcome to Biographia
A Life in Print
Everyone has a story to tell. Few have the chance to see it in print. If you would like to see a loved one's life story told through the eyes of family and friends, Biographia can help you achieve this. A lavishly illustrated, hard back, finely written, coffee table biography with plenty of humour could be just the anniversary present you're looking for.
One of my clients is pictured in the section below (Why Choose Biographia) showing a treasured photograph (a larger version can be seen on the right of this Welcome to Biographia section). She dreamt that one day, it would be the cover picture for a memoir of her mother.
That dream was finally realised at Christmas 2025 when we published It Started with a Photo: Discovering Lisuscha's Story.

The photograph taken in Dublin in 1894 that prompted Natasha Davies to start researching her family history. Her 40 years of research provided the material for the Biographia memoir IT STARTED WITH A PHOTO - DISCOVERING LISUSCHA'S STORY.
Why choose
Biographia?
Biographia is a small company run by Charles Oulton, a former Fleet Street journalist, who is involved in every aspect of the editorial and design process. The Biographia philosophy is underpinned by the enduring values of two members of Charles's family no longer with us: a father who died too young but who nonetheless left behind a memoir to remember him by; also a brother who again died far too early but sadly without any permanent account of his life.
Charles feels the best approach for an outstanding biography is to ask family and friends to tell their favourite stories about the people they love. This is added to the first person account of the person involved. The narrative will ideally then capture the essence of that person, the strengths and qualities that make him or her special, but perhaps sometimes also some of the vulnerabilities that make them lovable. And, perhaps most important of all, that person's unique sense of humour.
None of these stories behind the men and women we value should be allowed to fade, as is sadly so often the case. Charles Oulton makes it his personal responsibility to bring this story to life, starting with the original interviews, moving to the writing of the narrative, and ending with the design of the book.
Whether the customer lives in the West Country (Charles lives in Somerset) - or Australia (the home of Charles's most recent customer) - the biography will not only give enormous pleasure to the customer and his or her family. It will also provide reassurance that an account of a life well lived will not be forgotten by the generations to come.

"Charles has captured the soul of my mother in a way I never could."
Ben Bradley

"Charles took a manuscript that was very dense and didn’t flow well. He turned it into a great story that was easily readable and enjoyed by all. We have had amazing feedback from many family members and friends."
Natasha Davies

"'Post Imperial Soldier' has been very well received by my family. Well done and thanks."
